General Information

Originally from Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, Brenda completed the undergraduate degree course in Accounting at University of Ulster at Jordanstown, followed by the Diploma in Accounting at Queen’s University, Belfast.  She commenced employment with FPM in October 1992 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1995, before joining the Murdock Group in September 1997 as Financial Controller.

 

In February 1998, Brenda moved back into practice and joined J.J. Cavanagh & Co where she remained until October 2007 when she rejoined FPM as a Director in the Audit and Accounts Department.  In May 2010, Brenda was promoted to Associate Partner.

Relevant Experience


Audit:
  • Audit of company accounts from wide range of sectors with responsibility for planning, budgeting and co-ordination of the assignments.
  • Audit and preparation of Solicitor Accounts ensuring compliance with Solicitor Regulations
  • Completion of public sector and specialist audits including Credit Unions, Schools and Housing Associations, including verification of Government funding
  • Completion of several internal audit assignments in the private and public sectors.
  • Audit of a range of clubs and organisations limited by guarantee including the verification of Government funding.
  
Accounts Preparation:
  • Preparation of a wide range of unlimited accounts from various sectors including retail, construction, engineering and manufacturing.
  • Preparation of various Audit exempt Company Accounts
 
Business Planning:
  • Preparation of Business Plans and Cases for Support for submission to Invest NI and other government departments
  • Preparation of Financial Projections for submission to banks and other organisations.
 
Training / Recruitment:
  • Responsibility for staff training and development, including evaluation of training needs and delivery of in-house course programme to address specific requirements.
  • Undertaking recruitment for in-house and client purposes, including selection of candidates and interview process.

  • Review of management information systems on behalf of clients, providing recommendations for improvement
