From the commencement of operations FPM has placed considerable emphasis on human resource management and staff development. All staff have to undertake mandatory training in both relevant and non-related specialisms and the firm has in the past retained the Institute of Charted Accountants in Ireland to carry out a full Training Needs Analysis of FPM. In addition the Computer Training Institute of Ireland was asked to carry out a Training Needs Analysis of the IT requirements of the firm. It is believed that FPM were probably the first chartered accountancy firm in Ireland to request the Institute of Chartered Accountants to carry out a formal Training Needs Analysis.
A detailed ongoing training program is now in progress. Each year a detailed survey of staff attitudes is coordinated. The ongoing continuous achievement of Investors in People status confirms FPM commitment to training and developing staff.
FPM has been chosen as an exemplar practice by Opportunity Now for its Work Life Balance policies. Great emphasis is placed on internal communication and FPM won the Irish News Cross Border Employment Award in 2007.
